Our Last Day in Brussels!
This past week, I’ve found myself reflecting on the opportunity given to me to partake in this trip. As a first-generation American and student, traveling wasn’t the norm for me and my family. When my parents could take a break from their long hours of working each day, our traveling consisted of going across states to visit family. :-) Being able to even have the chance to study college in the States and move away from the generational cycle of working blue-collar jobs is already a gift given to me by my parents.
Traveling and residing in Europe for a short time has been quite an adjustment. Yet, whenever I encounter Spanish-speaking people, I’m elated to converse with these people as I explain where I was born and where my family originates. It’s fast-moving in the city, and it has been evident why these places have been picked for our International Financial Management course. Particularly speaking about Brussels, we’ve had the opportunity to visit the European Commission, the European Parliament, and receive a lecture on the economic impact of COVID from a local business professor.
Today was our cultural/”chill” day! We had the chance to go to Mini-Europe and tour around the little scenery of each country in Europe and the major landmarks that each of them have! Enjoyed listening to the national anthems of several countries and taking note of the buildings that we will be seeing in London.
To all students wanting to partake in this adventure, I’d say go for it! Witness the applications of your studies, converse with the local people, and bring back these experiences to friends and loved ones. I for sure can’t wait to tell my family and friends how my first time in Europe went. See everyone tomorrow as we venture to London!
