Hello, London!

Hello, London!

From my last blog, the end of the day was dedicated to packing for our train to London! Entering the station, it felt like home with a small check-in and passing through their customs before the train to London! (The U.K. isn’t part of the European Union, so everyone coming into the UK has to go through customs regardless if you’re coming from another European country).

Our train ride was only about 2 hours! That’s much less than the amount of time it takes me to travel to Georgia, and, amazingly, a resident in Europe could easily hop on a train and arrive at a neighboring country. I also didn’t realize that our route to London would pass through northern France, and it was a site to see the countryside and the coast, almost. All of a sudden, everything went dark, and with a quick Google search, I found out that we were going underwater until we approached England. How cool is that? You couldn’t see anything but your reflection in the window!

Two hours went by fast, and we soon found ourselves at King’s Cross station (queue the fangirling over Harry Potter). Never would I have imagined that I would step foot in London! The setting of several movies and shows I watched as a kid, and a popular location that classmates of mine throughout the years would visit.

After organizing our belongings and getting settled, my sister and I (along with friends) ventured off to our mini-tour of London! Tried out Five Guy’s and was amazed at how much thicker the burger was here compared to the previous burgers I had in the States. Then we took a trip to check out platform 9 3/4 and the Harry Potter store (eeek!), followed by walks to several parks, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and London’s Eye.

Glad to say that I enjoyed the long walks, having fun getting a tad lost in the train system, and crossing off my far-fetched dream of going to London. Can’t wait to come back and bring all the wonderful gifts that I got for loved ones, tell people my adventures and pictures, and be back home to my loved ones and my Mexican tacos, haha!
